Kunstvereniging Diepenheim proudly presents ‘Penumbra’ – the first solo exhibition by German artist Lisa Reitmeier. The title ‘Penumbra’ derives from the scientific phenomenon of partial shadow – a twilight zone where shadow and light are visible at the same time. It is a dimension of transition and a central issue in Reitmeier’s artistic practice, too. The transition from live to dead material, the change from light to dark or a precious object dissolving into individual components. The phenomenon of ‘change’ is examined with an open mind and translated into a unique choice of material. Latex skins, tiles, found objects and transparent substances are part of Reitmeier’s poetic sculptural installation.

The exhibition combines new and existing work to scenes of a theatrical landscape in which the visitor is involved. ‘Penumbra’ is in itself a place of transition making the Kunstvereniging a Gesamtkunstwerk.
